Circular Design Sprint
Test Cradle to Cradle ideas in 5 days
Analyse your operations, work with partners and draw on inspiration to identify opportunities in the Circular Economy to minimise waste leakage and capture value at every loop.
Design, build and test a new business model or product system in only five days using a customer-centric formula of design thinking, behaviour science and business strategy.
How the Circular Design Sprint works
Sprint Day 1 : Map and Analyse current operations to identify waste leakage, value-creation opportunities and the target focus for the sprint. Hear from expert insights including customer research and partners experience. Define a precise challenge to answer.
Sprint Day 2 : Get inspired by lightning demos and explore case-studies of solutions to similar challenges. Ideate solutions through multiple sketches.
Sprint Day 3 : Refine and define THE solution as a team. Plan the process or product prototype to test on real users.
Sprint Day 4 : Prototype the solution: A new process for operations? A landing page for a new service? A mock instagram campaign for a new product? A fake mobile app? Anything to gather data from test users.
Sprint Day 5 : Test the solution on 5-10 users for constructive, quantifiable feedback.
Post-Sprint : Update and test the iterated version again (with new test users). Once validated you’ll be ready to roll-out a new process, or produce the development backlog to build your MVP or feature update.
What is the output?
Work with strategic partners to establish a new working process to leverage Circular Economy benefits OR test a new product or service to make sure this will be received in the market.
Overall process - Remote or in-person
Analyse: Ideal prep-work would be to analyse your current operations through Life-Cycle Analysis or Circular Economy Assessment Eg. Circulytics. This will help you identify opportunities in your existing supply chain.
Kick-off Workshop: Frame the challenge with the facilitator (me!) and plan the sprint (1-2 hours)
Sprint Week: Gather key team members, some supply chain partners, and decision-makers together for 5 full days - or 5 hours/day + offline tasks if remote.
What do people say about the Design Sprint?
“It was so INTENSE, but so productive and so much fun. I was really surprised by how much we achieved in such a short time, and by how the process challenged and strengthened the concept. I love the first prototype and am really excited to see where we will take it from here!
